About the Course
This EAL accredited course is designed for individuals where the candidate requires an advanced knowledge and understanding of operating both High and Low Voltage equipment.
The individuals should already have had previous experience of working in a high voltage substation and a knowledge of working on High Voltage Electrical Equipment.The course has a rough split of 50% classroom-based learning and 50% substation practical learning.
The candidates will be required to operate, isolate and earth high voltage equipment, control the safety of the system by completing switching schedules, diagrams and issuing of permits.
Course Content:
Classroom Safety of Substations Legislation and understanding Electrical Safety Rules (ESR’s)
Switchgear Safety
Fault Levels and Relay Operation
Safety Documents (Switching Schedules and Permits)
Lock Out Tag Out Procedures (LOTO)
Practical operating High and Low Voltage Electrical Switchgear (Isolations and earthing)
Practical Exercises
This course is designed for individuals who will be required to gain company AP or SAP status or to fulfil the obligations to conduct live isolations and earthing of 11kV High Voltage Systems. The course will include both Theory and Practical Assessments.The theoretical component will be assessed through a computer-based exam.
